House calls

House-call appointments for the pets who need them most.

Not every pet travels well. Some cats have never left the house except for a vet visit, and the carrier-and-car ride is more stress than the exam itself. For those patients — and for families facing end-of-life decisions — we bring the exam to you.

House calls

House-call exams for elderly and anxious pets.

If your cat, dog, or small companion animal is elderly, anxious, or has a medical condition that makes travel risky, we will come to your home for a full wellness or sick-visit exam. Our doctors perform the same thorough examination they would in the clinic — temperature, heart and lung auscultation, abdominal palpation, dental assessment, joint and mobility evaluation — in an environment your pet already trusts.

House-call exams are available during regular clinic hours. We bring a mobile exam kit with the diagnostic tools we need for most appointments. For anything that requires in-house lab work or imaging, we will discuss the best plan — sometimes that means a follow-up clinic visit, sometimes we coordinate sample pickup.

Call us to discuss whether a house call is right for your pet's current health needs.

End-of-life

In-home end-of-life consultations.

Saying goodbye is hard enough without adding a car ride and a waiting room. We offer in-home end-of-life consultations and euthanasia for pets whose families choose to spend those final moments at home, on the couch or in the backyard, surrounded by familiar sounds and smells.

Our doctors take whatever time this visit needs — there is no schedule pressure, no next appointment waiting. We walk through what to expect, answer every question, and give you as much time afterward as you need. A paw-print clay keepsake and a condolence card follow within the week.

We do not charge a premium for in-home euthanasia compared to an in-clinic appointment; a modest travel fee applies depending on distance from our Courthouse Road location in Richmond. Please call to schedule and we will make the process as gentle as it can be.

What's included in a house-call visit.

  • Full physical exam by a DVM — temperature, heart and lung auscultation, abdominal palpation, dental assessment, joint and mobility evaluation.
  • Vaccine administration if scheduled in advance and the cold chain can be maintained.
  • Sample collection — blood draw, urine catch, fecal — sent back to the clinic for lab work.
  • Medication consultation and prescription refills as needed.
  • Comfort-care and palliative consults for chronic-condition patients.
  • In-home euthanasia + paw-print keepsake + condolence card for end-of-life appointments.
  • Travel fee $35–$95 depending on distance from our Courthouse Road location. Exam fee matches the in-clinic schedule.
